I have not been able to try something more demanding then BF4 yet. Any advice is appreciated. Spykezxp TS Addict. I'm assuming that you are using the "Stock" cooler that came with i5, and not leaving it without one " If that is the case then you dont have much to worry about.
Those are temps that are under load, so they are in a safe range for the CPU. If you are worried about heat building up with the CPU or plan on overclockingthen I would suggest getting an aftermarket cooler. That would of course be based off what kind of budget you may or may not have.
Getting an aftermarket cooler will lower the temps idle and under loadand give you peace at mind. If you need more help with selecting one, please tell us what budget you can put towards purchasing one. Spykezxp said:.
Those temperatures are not problematic, but I do think that they are too high. Perhaps the heatsink is not seated properly or you misapplied thermal paste. GhostRyder TS Evangelist. Obzoleet said:. I do recall fiddling with the stock cooler at first, it was pre applied and I did not notice it at first and most likely its not perfectly applied, I did however order some MX4 thermal paste this weekend which I should get soon, I will apply the new one and come back with the result.
Reactions: fimbles. GhostRyder said:. Well the temps are actually about normal for a stock cooler as far as I see. I would suggest buying like a cheap aftermarket air cooler if your worried, I don't think applying new thermal paste will drop the temp much unless the cooler is not seated properly.
The chip will throttle its core clocks if temps become to high, so unless you see throttling Which I believe the temp has to be pretty high to throttle at C.
I was considering the H55 as you advised in one of my earlier threads but if I dont need it I would like to save the money I will still try to apply the new thermal paste I get and see if there is any difference, How can I see if my CPU throttles ingame?Menu Menu.

Question of the Week: What's your best advice for someone shopping for a laptop? Click here to ask away!
Previous Next Sort by votes. Mar 29, 87 0 18, 1. K so I'm starting to get worried if I am ruining my laptop or not. I have a Gateway FX pu and game pretty heavily on it. Currently I'm playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and although I have to play on low settings I really haven't had any problems with the game been playing since the beta.
But as of late, my fps will drop drastically like fps for approximately minutes, then return to back normal framerate which is about 50 fpsand this drop in fps happens about every 20 minutes, and it's starting to get EXTREMELY annoying, especially when I'm in the middle of battle and am forced to sit in one spot for 3 minutes until I have a playable framerate again.
I recently started monitoring my system temperatures and have come up with some alarming information. Earlier tonight I started my Hardware monitoring program after I turned my computer on, then proceeded to play BF:BC2 for about an hour, and these are my current temp stats. Am I crippling the components inside my computer by letting them get this hot?
There isn't much I can think of to cool it down, the laptop has exceptional air flow around it and underneath it I have it raised up at all times so there is about an inch of space underneathmaybe there is some dust built up inside or something.
Do you guys have any suggestions on how I could cool this puppy down? This just doesn't seem safe. I'd really appreciate the help! Aug 20, 0 18, 0. Get a laptop cooler is the only thing I can think of. It's not like you can really put in aftermarket cooler.Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts. Change language. Install Steam. Store Page. Im running on stock coolerno over clock. Showing 1 - 15 of 17 comments. Eisberg View Profile View Posts. The CPU can go to even 85 degrees and will be ok. When your CPU hits degrees celcius, then it sends a shutdown signal to the motherboard. So you are perfectly good with degrees. Yeah, 40 is a bit optimistic for you unless its idle, in games, I would assume it to be about ideally, but your safe up to like 85C if its an Intel CPU. Cpu's are designed to shut the computer down when their heat threshold has been reached so it doesn't burn out. If you have Intel you don't have to worry about temps under 90 degrees.
But buying that better cooler will help you with life expectancy and ofcourse will take those bad thoughts away. Something i really can advice as a good cooler is not that expencive.
AMD max is 61 C. Intel max is 90 C. Legion View Profile View Posts. All are desinged to run up to I put it at 90 C, max where as really they are designed to get up to C before they begin to cook themselves. By cook they melt there thermal paste and just begin to burn out I have a laptop that I bought back in gaming laptop that has a 4th gen i7 on some games.
I would get up to 75 C, which is hot but not critical levels for a CPU. As for the cooler I hope you are not using the stock cooler that came with your CPU and are using some after market air cooler instead. The ones that come with the CPU are not that great for those who intend to use them for gaming purposes. If you do decide to get an after market cooler check your CPU on pcpart picker for compatible coolers I run an after market corsair hi water block which has my idle temps between C and a max temp of 45 C under heavy useage.
Intel stock coolers are garbage, and AMD tends to run hot. I had the same issue. If you don't do overclocking you can buy a cheap aftermarket cooler like the evo by coolermaster, proving you have a large enough tower. Cyg View Profile View Posts. Nope as long as it's below 80c it shouldn't really affect the life span. Im having an i7 OC to 4. I could however buy a better cooling though but I will wait for my next upgrade probably in a few years. Guywars View Profile View Posts.

Install Steam. I have been experiencing low frame rates recently and couldn't figure out why. Games ran the same when on low or medium settings. Frames rates on the golf club 2, gta v, the duvision, NBA 2k17, dip to fps.
My pc specs are : Intel i7 k, gtx16 gb ram. I recently found out that my cpu temperatures are running at c. Could this be the issue? What should I check to fix this heat issue? Last edited by FantasyShark34 ; 28 Jul, am. Showing 1 - 10 of 10 comments. Omega View Profile View Posts. That is indeed the issue. Your cooler is probably not mounted properly.
Remove the cooler, reaply thermal paste and install the cooler again.
100C Temp on cpu bad in long periods of time?
That poor CPU is thermal throttling for it's life. I advice against using the PC until this issue has been resolved. Last edited by Omega ; 25 Jul, pm. Yes do not even power this on again until the CPU cooler issue is fixed. You got to solve that over heating issue!Canon calendar 2020
I have a intel i5 K and the highest temperature it ever reached was 45 C. Use high quality thermal paste and a good after market CPU cooler. You are risking CPU damage if you keep running it at those temperatures. Sounds like your cooler has pre applied paste but you forgot to remove the plastic cover.
I bought this pc from Walmart pre-built. I have been running this pc since I bought it in february. One reply said there is no cooler and others say there is. There is a fan over the cpu.Higher maths rate of change questions
I did not see any plastic cover under the cooler. The fan was loose on one side. How can I tell if the thermal paste is still good? Last edited by rotNdude ; 26 Jul, am. Originally posted by Omega :. I remounted the cooler and my bios says the temperatures are down to 43 c Thank you for you help. Originally posted by GameSharkBait :. Goldribs View Profile View Posts. Not sure why, but the 12 volt P4 CPU power connector quit working. I wired up the connector to a 4-pin molex accessory connector now and the computer boots fine without complaints. So anyways, I get the computer back up and running, and the only thing that seems off is that my temperature, which was previously being reported as between 39C to 55C, is now getting up to over C or so the thermometer says.
Not sure why, but it's clearly running very hot, much hotter than before. I did re-mount the heatsink when I was troubleshooting the problem earlier, so I guess it's possible that I need to do it again and use some more thermal paste However just to be sure I'll run out and get some more thermal paste tomorrow and mount it again Hi pyro, what program are you getting this temp reading from?
I really doubt its at C. Whatever you are using to report the temp may be wrong, or less likely you damaged a sensor. The average Windows PC is permanently busy, constantly juggling system resources between the 50 or more processes it's running at any one time. This will feel like a major disaster, especially if you've unsaved work in other applications. They will be very unresponsive, it'll be difficult to switch to them, and even if you manage it then little will seem to happen.
Just redrawing the screen may take an age. So your first step should be to try and regain control over your system, reducing the impact of the resource-hogging app and allowing access to other programs again. You should now see everything running on your PC at the moment.
No CPU column? This tells Windows that just about everything else you're running is more deserving of CPU attention, and may make a very small difference in system responsiveness. The "Processor Affinity" setting tells Windows which CPU cores are allowed to run a particular application, and so by restricting it to one you'll free up the others for the rest of your programs. The results should be visible immediately, with CPU usage dropping and other programs becoming usable again.
