One thing thouh, the recorded video is without audio : I looked into Zoneminder and it also has no audio recording. Is this difficult to implement? Audio support will at least be coming in its "live" form i. Live audio could be implementing without touching motion's source code and will take advantage of the HTML5 web apis. Hello, don't meant to be a pest but I was wondering if there was any updates on this?
Quite frankly, I couldn't care less about audio during recording - just live streams mainly. Is this possible? Having audio play over the stream would be awesome. This could be a fantastic baby cam if that feature was added. If there's a branch or any work being done, or if somebody can point me in the right direction to add audio support I'll take a crack at it. There's no audio support at all and it is very unlikely this could ever happen, given that it has to be implemented in motion first.
I've been searching everywhere for a system like motioneyeos, but that supports audio streaming - I'm at my wit's end! How difficult would it be for me to try to add audio support to motioneyeos myself? Does anyone know of other libraries like motion but that include audio support?
Install MotionEyeOS on Raspberry Pi – Surveillance Camera System
That would capture audio in almost real time, which could be useful for some, but most will complain about not having it embedded in the recorded movies. I think audio can be added in live stream or recorded movie by using motion extpipe to ffmpeg. From ffmpeg command, you can easily stream the rtsp output to anywhere you like. I haven't got time to try this out yet, but here's what I would do based on my experience from my own baby monitor project from 3 years ago.
All my tries to get video and sound simutaniously on logitech usb camera with integrated mic ended bad, best option for that was vlc or u4vl, but both options lack stuff motioneye does.
LTechik Sorry no, I haven't got any time to try this. I already have my home made baby camera from 3 years ago, so this is really low priority for me. I wonder whether MotionEye OS really the right place to start if you want a baby monitor.Raspberry avec motioneye et Freebox Vidéosurveillance connectée
Motion Eye OS really is geared towards surveillance, which is quite different from a baby monitor. I did a thorough comparison 3 years ago, and concluded that motion software is not the best choice for a baby monitor. What it lacked was a nice web interface. I got you, does ur baby monitor works with logitech cams with build in mic?
Thanks for your answer! While there are great ressources out there, it took me a lot of effort to find them and put everything together. The same instructions probably apply for all Pi models. If you use a normal webcam instead of the Pi camera modules, most of my ressources will not be helpful either.
The official pi website also has good tutorials. Basically, I use these commands for recording images and video:. This should set you up for everything more advanced. For streaming video, there are basically the possibilities of using GStreamer, VLC, ffmpeg, netcat and mjpeg. If you want to connect with multiple devices including Smartphones, this will probably not be your preferred option, but if you have one fixed machine as receiver, this should work fine.
For the other options, there is a decent article here describing each approach. It ultimately recommends using mjpeg. If you want to try it, use these commands:. Mainly I wanted to have both video and audio in my stream — which brings us first to network protocols and then to picam.
So read ahead with care. It appears there are two protocols for sending data over a network: TCP and UDP — see herehere or here for an explanation. Basically, TCP checks that no packets are lost slow and reliable while UDP just pushes packets over the network without any checks fast but unreliable. The simple streaming example with netcat above uses TCP. Then there is the question of where to send your stream to.
You can either send your stream directly to a certain IP which means you need to tell your pi where the stream is headed to or send it to a multicast adress in the range Or you can set up an rtsp server that will process incoming requests for streams. This can also be adopted for a video stream see the links above. Setting up the usb microphone is well described in the article already mentioned above.
Now that we have set up both video and audio recording — how can we combine them in one file? It turns out this is not as easy as it should be. The instructions for installing picam are very clear and have worked for me without problems. Picam has support for http streaming built into it and the instructions page also adds details to passing the stream to different programs. With its lower power consumption and relative portability, the Raspberry Pi makes an ideal candidate for a dedicated home CCTV camera.
Very recently, MotionPie was renamed MotionEyeOS because the software worked on other platforms than just the Raspberry Pi plus the author did not like the name! However, being notified of any motion detection is something that can be very useful, and MotionEyeOS has a very handy option for custom notifications. However, I found it a little tricky getting everything working in the way I wanted. If you need help doing this, then I highly recommend following the installation and configuration guides created by Calin Crisan, the author and creator of MotionEye OS.
Whilst email is a straight forward way of achieving this, it can be a little long-winded and it no longer feels very modern. I tried using a separate Gmail account for this and soon grew tired of it. Pushover is an app for both iOS and Android which allows push notifications in a variety of different forms.
The Pushover API is pretty easy to use I had no idea what I was doing at the start, but managed to get this working after a few tries so I wanted to use this to notify me of any motion that was detected. Give your app a quick description i. Here is one I quickly knocked up in Photoshop:.

This is a combination of numbers and letters — please keep this a secret! Okay, now you have an app and your API and user keys. I would typically use Nano to do this, so I would type the following:. You can also tweak the message, URL and sound to suit if you so wish.
Once you have customised the script to include your token and user keys, you will need to transfer it to your Pi if not created on there from the command line.
You will also need to ensure that your new Python script is executable. Again, I usually do this through WinSCP by selecting the script, pressing F9 and then changing the permissions to Alternatively, run the following command over SSH in the data folder:.
You then need to specify which command to run, which will be the Python script you just created, but sure you use the correct location — i. Now, when your Pi detects motion it should take photos, record videos but also send you a push notification alerting you to this.Smoking coca leaves reddit
Quite handy! And one of the following push notification apps so that you can actually receive notifications out-and-about:. Maker is a relatively new channel that enables you to create web hooks that can used for various actions. For this project, we are going to use Maker to generate a URL to trigger an event which will notify you of any detection.
When you activate your Maker channel, you will be given a user key — we will need this. Now this link is what we need to use over at MotionEyeOS.Raspberry Pis are neat little computers that can be placed just about anywhere assuming there is power and network connectivity nearby. Sorry to ask again, but do you have to have noobs installed on the pi? Also do you not need to use the os to git clone the repository from github for motioneye? Hi Jai. Insert it on your Pi. And then, you can control everything though your computer by accessing the Raspberry Pi IP address. Can you help? Thanks, Fiona. Hi Fiona. The pi is going to be put on a yacht an hour and a half away from home. I was setting the pi up at home with a mobile data router as we are planning on accessing the pi remotely from the home broadband network.
This is what I did! The mobile router was working ok as my phone could pick it up. I then hardwired the pi to the home broadband router instead after posting this and angry IP scanner found the Meye IP address and I accessed the software behind the camera using my laptop.Hi there, Just getting started with MotionEye and am trying to add an rstp camera however I'm getting "protocol rstp not supported" when trying to add a network camera with the RSTP address. I've configured so that it sends a slack notification when motion detected.
It will basically take the last image from the folder. But what happens is that the last image is usually shot too late. Do u have any recommended setting for this scenario? As I am not using this setup, I can not test it. The tools for setting up the necessary keys to enable HW decoding, which are part of the rpi-firmware tools.
And the necessary binary libraries for HW decoding. I am not sure, whether the ffmpeg libraries are able to find those libraries from the firmware but I installed them in the standard place. As already said, necessary stuff is installed but I was not able to test it. The Docker image then only contains the tools to be able to check, whether the hardware decoding got enable with the correct keys.Lacunae at beginning
I didn't find that information anywhere. I'm mostly interested in h and And I don't know, with what Pi version they added H. Alberto Vargas.
The reason I ask is this. I am trying to have MotionEye do text overlays on the images. If I make the text overlays big enough to see on that main page, then when I view the cameras in full resolution, the text is jagged and ugly.
I am trying to convince the Motion developers to add TrueType support to their text overlays so that this doesn't occur. William Beckett. I think you should use rtsp protocol.
